Sunscreen Warning

Those of you heading out to catch some winter sun may want to know about humanengineered nanoparticles in sunscreens and their links to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

Ironically, while we are encouraged to apply sunscreen to avoid skin cancer, nanoparticles in sunscreen may prove a greater risk than sun exposure itself. Recent studies show zinc oxide and titanium dioxide nanoparticles can induce the formation of free radicals when exposed to sunlight, and these may damage cells.

The cells you are born with have to last you till you die. There’s no way back if they are damaged by some form of long term, low dose toxicity - worrying news for all sunscreenslapping people. When you’re on that beach in Barbados, you may want limit exposure to the sun to maximise your vitamin D production then cover up rather than take the risk of applying sunscreen.
