Exercise = Fewer Headaches + More Memory
Health commentator James Brunton reports on yet more evidence that regular exercise is good for you.
As if you needed any more advice along the lines that regular exercise is good for you, along come two scientific studies to reinforce the message.
One study concluded that regular exercise helped reduce the number and severity of headaches and migraines. You may think that exercise would be the last thing to do if headaches blight your life, but no. Research volunteers had fewer and less intense headaches - and popped fewer pain-killers.
The second study suggested that regular exercise and improved physical fitness slowed down damage to the brain’s memory centres in early Alzheimer’s disease. This adds to prior findings that being physically active slowed the rate of age-related cognitive decline in people without dementia. The moral is, it’s never too late to get fit. It’s likely to keep you healthier longer.
