SETTING Located seconds from Princes Street, Amicus Apple is perfectly placed for a refreshing stop during a hard days shopping or some mouthwatering after-work cocktails. We recommend the delicious “Victoria’s Secret” and “The Mighty Aphrodite” delicious!! Amicus Apple nestles in Frederick Street like an oasis of cool in a world of retail madness. Stepping inside you are immediately transported from the hustle and bustle of Princes Street and into a haven of elegance – Amicus skilfully manages to look great both during the day and at night, traditionally a tricky balance to get right. The bold printed wallpaper and comfy leather tub seats invite you to stay for much longer than you meant to. Whatever you fancy, leisurely lunches, languid evenings or late nights, you are guaranteed a great time at Amicus Apple.

FOOD The current menu is a mixture of lighter bites, substantial salads and hearty mains to tempt the tastebuds. We started by sharing an avocado and prawn salad, which came served with sweet sunblush tomatoes and a zingy citrus dressing, subtly balancing the flavour of the juicy prawns and the silky smooth avocado.

For mains, we tried the herb and parmesan chicken goujons and the combination of light batter, orange couscous and a spicy dip worked well.

Star of the show though, was the pan-fried salmon, perfectly cooked, and accompanied by a mound of crushed new potatoes and crème fraiche dip. When the coffee arrived with a square of sweet homemade tablet, it proved to be a great way to end our meal. We also noticed they do a fantastic £5 lunch menu Mon to Fri between 12pm and 5pm, which we will definitely be back to sample!
